Join us June 11 10am-2pm at the Shoreline Library for:
World Wide Crochet & Knit in public day!!

Bring your yarn craft projects, any snacks or beverages you would like .

The Library is located at 345 NE 175th St, Shoreline.

If there weather is good we may enjoy the sun from the library benches and other outfdoor seating areas. If not maybe we'll hang in the library or in the meeting room.

It is also Internation Yarn Bombing day so we will be decorating one of the trees outside, so if you have some things that would fit around the trunk or branches you might want to bring that. I'll try and get some measurements on here later.

This is a great book if you're learning to knit or want to stretch your wings on knitting, before each knitting project it teaches you the skills you'll need to do the project. The crochet section is small (57 pages out of 297 pages) almost to the point of why did they bother. It has great pictures. If you're a crochet beginner use this book, but if you're not their are only 2 projects, and some really basic stitches.

Now this book should have been named FUN and Funky Crochet,it's way funkier than the book titled that. This book like most crochet books has a "how to crochet" section. It has ideas from Greeting Cards to clothing embellishments to scarves.

If you're a vetran crocheter you've used many of the techniques in this book, but they use them in ways I haven't seen very often. It teaches you to crochet in the front of the book (all the crochet books seem to) some of the projects would be good for a beginner and fun too!

GENERAL NOTES: I got this yarn at the Knit and Crochet show in Portland and thought it would make a lovely scarf for_________ so I bought it. I may even have enough for another scarf!

I kind of knew the look I wantedfor the scarf, so I did a search for Lacy Shell Crochet Pattern and came up with this site http://crochet.about.com/library/weekly/aa031106.htm. I liked the look of that and tried it but couldn't get it to come out right, so I ended up putting 3 double crochets between the shells.

GENERAL NOTES: Okay I got this yarn at Big Lots for $1 a skein. It is super super soft (like baby kittens) I've knitted 1 skein so I think there will be enough yarn (I only have 2 skeins). I used really big needles because it's fairly big yarn AND when I used small needles (see Project # ___ )it took forever...of course that was also much smaller yarn.
